This has gone from my spot to share all my questions, fears and experiences to a necessary outlet for the good, bad and the ugly that goes along with having two boys. I wouldn't change it for the world!

Weaning

So now that the baby is almost a year, I am trying to wean him off the breast. Johnny has a fear that Baby J will end up like the kid from Grown Ups.
I bought some whole milk and he's not loving it. He drinks a good amount of water but doesn't care for the milk. Any suggestions on how to get him into it??  He only drinks from a sippy cup and hasn't seen a bottle in at least 6 months.

Papa, Can You Hear Me?

Remember in the beginning when you all said, "He's so quiet and observant." Guess what? Those days are over!! He has found his voice and wants it heard!

Hello Baby

The most entertaining part of my day is when Baby Johnny is playing by himself and I just get to watch. He does the funniest stuff!! Hello baby....kissy, kissy.

The Big Move Adjustment

So...the big move has been pretty exciting for everyone, but there was a little transition period for the baby. He woke up 2-4 times every night for a month. I was praying that we weren't having a long term set back since he just started sleeping through the night at 8 1/2 months. Mama needs her beauty sleep. ;0) I know this looks easy, but rest is required. I was starting to look like I rubbed dark eye shadow under my eyes....not pretty.

Anyhow, we're now back on schedule weeks before his first birthday. Phew! It only took us 6 months to get him to start sleeping in his own bed and 6 months to start sleeping 10+ hours. I love him unconditionally, but I like him more after a good night's sleep. ;0)

The Big Move

Our most recent news is our big move! We lived in our Sacramento house for 5 years and Johnny worked really hard to update it and get it the way we wanted it. The bathroom and kitchen were completely remodeled.

We had a fantastic willow tree in the back with a tree swing that shaded the backyard beautifully. A great lemon tree and a luscious garden are more things that I will miss. But....we needed some more space and wanted to move out of the area.

We found a great house in Cameron Park with A POOL that lets us start over with remodeling another great place to be the way we want it. Let the remodeling begin! It started with clearing out all the brush in the front and back.

The bathrooms needed some TLC too. Let's get it started! Thanks for tiling the shower, coming up with the creative ideas and doin' work Adam (Adam Hall Construction)!!

Summer in Tahoe - Part Deux

Every year we take a week vacation to West Shore Tahoe with Johnny's family and this would be Baby Johnny's first time participating in our annual trip, sans umbilical cord and amniotic fluid. We had such a great time with the family, rafting, drinking wine, eating, laughing, playing games, drinking wine, chatting, hiking, laying out, drinking wine, swimming.....

We cracked up over Apples to Apples. If you've never played this game, get some wine and your friends or family over ASAP!!

Each couple took turns making dinner for each night over the weekend which worked out perfect! The night that we made dinner I chose to make salad and 4 different pizzas: BBQ Chicken, Arugula & Prosciutto, Margherita, Turkey Pepperoni.  I don't know if they would've been as delicious as they were without Lisa's homemade dough and the help of my lovely assistants (Lisa and Shayna) helping to put them all together. Dang....I was too busy to take a pic.  The other meals were filet and chicken. Talk about spoiled! That's what vacation is for. I came back with a "Vacation 5".

Something that I did capture on film though was Baby J's obsession with climbing stairs lately. Check it out:

Lexie and Joey came up the last few days of our trip and Joey is learning to share with a "baby" and Baby Johnny is learning to toughen up from Joey. Wait til they're bigger and both walking. They'll be partners in crime. Watch out!! We took them to the park and Johnny went in his first park swing (once he got going, he liked it, I swear!).

This trip is always so relaxing and it is such a fantastic tradition that I'm so grateful our son gets to grow up with!! Thanks to Grandma and Grandpa Shebl for the cherished tradition.

Summer in Tahoe

This summer we were lucky enough to have two trips to West Lake Tahoe with the baby. On our first trip, he got to spend some time with his cousins from San Diego and Great Aunt and Uncle. The lake house that they rent is UH-MAZING and the company was pretty fantastic too!!! This was the first time they had met him. This was also his first trip to Tahoe, externa-belly.

I thought for sure the older boys would see him as a brief novelty and move on, but they were so great with him. When we were there last year, I was almost 8 months pregnant and remember dragging myself around town trying to get in some much needed exercise and trying to avoid the "beached whale" look in my swimsuit on the dock.  Funny how this time I wasn't pregnant and found myself being lazy, with beer and snacks in hand as we hung out on the dock. Oh, what a difference a year can make! ;0)

Thanks AT and UJ! We had such a great time and the weekend went so fast. We can't wait for next year.

Not In the Bath

Anyone know what this face means?! Yep. Luckily it was a false alarm. Is that a single crocodile tear? Even this expression is cute.

Bath Time

Johnny has always LOVED bath time. I am so glad that he loves it and it wasn't like trying to submerge a cat in water for their necessary bathing! You know, those images of them flexing backwards to avoid any body part touching the water. No? Anyhow....he loves the bath. Here are a few fun time bath pics. His eyelashes are freakishly long when wet. Ugh. Anything cuter?? Doubtful.

Beach Bound

So....since I haven't posted to this blog in SSOO long I may be posting out of order. I just want to share stuff as I come across it. Let's start with Baby J's trip to the Carmel Beach with his cousin Rosie. They loved it!!  I couldn't have imagined my grandparents living 20 minutes from the Carmel Beach. Poor little Johnny boy. Ha!!

Baby J was obsessed with playing in and eating the sand (everything in the mouth still) while Rosie could not leave this discarded coffee cup out of her sight. Everytime we turned around, she was on a mission to go get it.  I think she was worried about it ending up in the ocean. So thoughtful!

It was a great visit for the kids. We're hoping to get the cuz's together once a month at least. It's hard with them in San Jose and us in Cameron Park, but we are going to try. When did we all get SO busy?!
